The majority of small business owners anticipate their 2010 revenues will exceed their 2009 sales, according to a new survey. The data, released by the Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute, shows 51% of small business owners believe their year-over-year sales will increase in 2010. A year ago, only 32% expected better sales in 2009 compared to 2008. “Many government officials and economists believe the nation’s recovery from the recession depends on small businesses; thus it’s heartening to see that small business owners have a positive outlook for [the rest of] 2010,” said Mark Wolf, director of Guardian Life. I was reading Counselor Magazine and I came across a wonderful editorial from Andy Cohen, Editor titled Cash Concerns in the September 2010 edition.
In Cash Concerns Andy Cohen is referring to a recent article in Bloomberg Business Week that reported that in July, cash at the nation’s non financial corporations stood at $1.84 trillion, a 27% increase over early 2007. After weathering one of the worst financial crises in decades, corporations actually increases their cash positions.
Andy Cohen went on to show examples of how these large corporation are stacking away cash and a rising rate. How they should be reinvesting and taking advantage of new technology, equipment etc.
